A Story of Growth

Tiffany started at Rivian as a Field Service Advisor out of Bellevue, WA. She thrived in her role in Service and was soon quickly given the opportunity to work at the Normal Manufacturing plant to support production in End of Line. Through that experience she has been promoted to End of Line Manager in the plant where she oversees safety and functionality testing, quality inspections, test track evaluations, and software installations before shipment to customers.

During her stint assisting End of Line, Tiffany had mentors and support that helped propel her to the next level. “I was introduced to multiple managers throughout the company. Our Service Lab Manager out of San Jose, our Body Shop Director, two End of Line Managers and the General Assembly Director, all took me under their wing and provided ample guidance in the transition from field operations, to managing plant operations,” said Tiffany.

There are lots of great options for technicians joining Rivian. You’re not limited when you join Rivian Service. When asked what growth opportunities for Service Technicians at Rivian, Tiffany added “There are ways to become software technicians, LVE (low voltage electrical) specialists, diagnostic technicians, prototype technicians, testing and development technicians.”

The ideal candidate will have the technical and diagnostics acumen, all while being able to provide a strong level of customer service. If you're able to think quickly on your feet, have a go-getter attitude, possess great communication skills, and have a passion for adventure, then we want you on the team. This culture helped earn Rivian an Employees’ Choice Award, placing us at #20 on Glassdoor’s 2022 Best Places to Work list.

Our manufacturing plant is the beating heart of Rivian. The teams working here produce the world’s first fully-electric pickup (the R1T, which earned the 2022 MotorTrend Truck of the Year® award), its sister electric SUV (R1S), and ground-breaking electric delivery vans for Amazon.

To join Rivian, a background in manufacturing or automotive is not required. We are proud of our track record of onboarding and training team members from many backgrounds who join with a can-do attitude and a passion for delivering quality. The training you receive will provide skills to help you build a vibrant and meaningful career.

In your role, you would join a committed team putting together parts and assembling vehicles. To make you successful, we provide clear training and instructions as well as all the gear you’ll need. And if you find an easier or better way to do something, your feedback can lead to real change in the way we build.

Profile: TBD - Career Growth

Shawn, one of our Manufacturing Group Leaders, created a career change after working as a mover and delivery driver for 16 years. He first learned about Rivian while delivering supplies to our plant.

“I started looking into Rivian to see what they were all about. What I learned impressed me. It seemed like they were a supportive company with a ton of opportunity for career growth. That was the kind of team I wanted to join: supportive with a mission larger than myself.”

Shawn was excited enough to chase the opportunity until he landed a position. “I applied a couple times for roles in the factory, and on my third attempt, I landed an interview and got the job.”

When he started, he began to learn how to assemble vehicle components. Within months, he was promoted to Team Leader. “It was a privilege to help so many new Team Members transition into new careers at Rivian.”

Shawn adds: “This is not the end of my story. There is so much more growth potential for my career. If I can make this transition, anybody can. All you need is a can-do attitude and passion for delivering quality.”

“I applied a couple times for roles in the factory, and on my third attempt, I landed an interview and got the job.”

“A few months after that, I was promoted to Group Leader. Eight members of my team have now become team leaders. It’s a great and humbling experience. In less than one year, I went from cleaning the facility to leading a team of manufacturing professionals.” “This is not the end of my story. There is so much more growth potential for my career. If I can make this transition, anybody can. All you need is a can-do attitude and passion for delivering quality.”

Start Your Career in EVs

We hope you will consider building your career with Rivian. We commit to supporting team members’ skill development and providing options for growth. Even if you do not have experience in manufacturing or automotive, we would love to talk with you about how we might be able to be part of your journey.
